There was a time when the only celeb we could count on to give us any fashion moments in the airport was Victoria Beckham.

Heathrow was always treated as a not merely a stop on her way to the next location, but another place where Victoria could showcase her latest skyhigh Louboutin’s. Many celebs have followed her stylish lead with Charlize Theron being the latest.

Charlize Theron has been spotted at the airport a few times recently looking a lot more polished. The flight comfort gear is long gone. Instead, the stunning beauty has opted for a more Beckham-esque airport wardrobe.

Uggs have been replaced by high-heel booties and her once slouchy sweaters have graduated into tailored blazers.

Charlize has also been seen carrying large totes from her Gucci ostrich tote to her beige leather tote. They appear roomy enough to store just about anything from the case for her Tom Ford ‘Marcella’ sunglasses or perhaps even a pair of Uggs for a quick change when she gets out of paparazzi lenses.

The line, which includes boys’ and girls’ clothing, from tees to outerwear, and one very yellow pair of rubber wellies, will be available at McCartney stores and online at www.stellamccartneykids.com. But the biggest surprise for those used to browsing in Stella boutiques will be the prices: The new collection costs roughly the same as the ones for Gap Kids did, from $20 for tees to around $150 for outerwear. (The adult collection hanging nearby, alas, is as designer as ever.) “I wanted this first collection to include basic pieces that are comfortable and that address a child’s needs, without sacrificing the fun and carefree elements,” McCartney, whose fourth child is due within the month, said. Spills, falls, rips, and tears, in other words, should be OK (if not necessarily encouraged) in her striped floral tees, updated majorette jackets, a reindeer intarsia sweater and sweater dress longtime fans will recognize as a holiday version of one from her Fall ‘07 mainline collection, and an adorable fox-printed sweatshirt in organic cotton, online sales of which will benefit Meat Free Monday, the vegetarian organization founded by Stella’s pop, Paul. Click below to see the video McCartney created for the new capsule collection.

Kate Beckinsale totally got the memo regarding a relaxed dress code for the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held in Santa Monica, California yesterday evening.

She managed to get the summery vibe right despite wearing a Fall 2012 look by Diane von Furstenberg.

Her berry one-shoulder jumpsuit with a draped detail falling from the shoulder and a knotted detail on the hip was paired with Christian Louboutin peep-toes – that’s three peep-toes in a row (major for Kate) – Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Gucci clutch.

Kate’s loose wavy hair and pink glossy lips completed the look.

Yesterday I published an article about the deepest diving watch in the world designed by Rolex to accompany James Cameron on his underwater adventures. The press release has finally become available and we can take a closer look at this exciting new watch.

Rolex Deepsea Challenge watch is unfortunately just an experimental watch. This means that Rolex Deepsea Challenge won’t be available for purchase at least not soon and not unless the Rolex changes its production strategy. This diver’s watch is a technical masterpiece and a true diver’s watch guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 12 000 meters (or 39 700 feet) but iIn practical terms Rolex Deepsea Challenge is just an updated version of commercial Rolex Deepsea professional diver’s watch from 2008.

<img src="http://www.luxois.com/photos/articles/700.872.jpg" width="450" border="0" alt="Rolex Deepsea Challenge"

Rolex Deepsea Challenge

Both watches are presented in the Oyster case with the Ringlock System bronze replica watches which makes them extremely durable and able to resist the pressure of more than 13 tonnes. Rolex Deepsea Challege comes in a larger three-pieice case with 51.4mm in diameter. The case is made of nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel; the middle case is made of 904L stainless steel while the screw-down case-back is made of grade 5 titanium. Both models share the same technical specifications such as a 60-minute graduated rotating bezel a chromalight display an automatic COSC certified mechanical movement caliber 3135 and a solid-link Oyster bracelet.

<img src="http://www.luxois.com/photos/articles/700.871.jpg" width="450" border="0" alt="Rolex Deepsea Challenge"

Rolex Deepsea Challenge

When it comes to differences the most important of them is a water resistance: 3900 meters for Rolex Deepsea and 12000 meters for Rolex Deepsea Challenge. The former is also more robust having 51 replica watches odm chronograph watches 4mm in diameter and boasting 28.8 in thickness. The commercial Rolex Deepsea was “only” 44mm wide and much more slender – having 17 7mm in thickness.

All information and videos about the James Cameron’s mission are available on the official website: www.deepseachallenge.com

Among the group was Jennifer Aniston, who the Hallworths count as a client, along with the likes of Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Kirsten Dunst, to name a few. It was their impressive roster of clients that prompted them to create Hoyle Jackson.“We created this line out of necessity for clients we couldn’t find things for,” says Roiz, the brand’s founder, who has costumed films like Tropic Thunder and Spider-Man 3. “People are looking for a uniform—something that is simple and clean.” To fill the void, they designed jeans made from Japanese selvedge denim, twill trousers, and a handful of button-down shirts. It looks like a mission accomplished here; Aniston, known for her casual jeans and T-shirt style, looked eager to don denim from the label.

The financial crisis is all everyone is able to talk about, but you wouldn’t know it in Warsaw. In fact, Polish retail consumption has been on the rise since last year—all of which is great news for Ania Kuczynska, one of the country’s design stars. The 33-year-old Warsaw-based designer has captured Poland’s attention as its most noteworthy homegrown talent. She sells through both her own flagship store and private appointments and is one of the few Polish designers carried at Warsaw boutique L’aura, which also carries Dries Van Noten and Raf Simons. In fact, her work echoes the quiet austerity of Simons’ wares for Jil Sander, but perhaps with more sensuality. Though it’s the motherland to scads of catwalkers, Eastern Europe is an unexpected home for sharp-minded modernism. Still, Kuczynska has managed to carve out an avant-garde aesthetic without participating in the traditional London-Milan-Paris circuit. That could possibly change now that she’s setting her sights on further horizons in the Middle East and the United States. Ania Kuczynska is a label you may be seeing in stores soon.

It was only fitting that Alex Casertano chose to debut his eponymous collection last night at Chelsea’s Luhring Augustine Gallery, since he worked there throughout high school and college. As a gallery guy, Casertano was inspired by the fashion and art crowds that surrounded him at work. And work is where girls will be wearing his sportswear, though the designer worked to create transition pieces that go from day to night. Accents like fur trim, silk waistbands, and pops of red in an otherwise muted palate should help them do just that. If the silhouettes themselves are straightforward—”not delicate, not tough, but somewhere in between,” the designer says—the color-blocking and cutouts keep things interesting (if sometimes a little too tricky). Standouts such as a color-block bustier dress and a slate gray wool poncho showcase Casertano’s knack for creating feminine pieces with a slight edge. After a few seasons designing menswear at J.Crew and Yigal Azrouël, it looks like Casertano is enjoying the addition of a few girly touches. There may be plenty of office gals this fall who’ll enjoy them, too.

The new e-commerce site The Aisle New York, which offers discounted flash sales of bridal gowns and accessories as well as a selection of full-price, current-season product, launches today with goods from Monique Lhuillier, Amsale, Jenny Packham, Oscar de la Renta, and Ranjana Khan, with more designers plus exclusive designer collaborations on the way. Brides aren’t the only ones who’ll feel good about the site, either: A portion of the proceeds from each gown sold will go to a charity of the designer’s choosing. “Philanthropy and feel-good shopping are part of our DNA,” explains co-founder and co-president David Yassky, a former bridal market editor for Women’s Wear Daily. Think of it as a little good karma in the bank in case a few Bridezilla tendencies get the better of you along the way.

Rag trader Shirley Keon’s made-to-measure gowns have timeless appeal, writes Suzanne Carbone.

FLINDERS Lane was once the heart and soul of the rag trade but these days, there’s not much stitching going on. Except Shirley Keon, a couturier, can be found down a flight of stairs in a basement, crafting made-to-measure garments for the discerning woman.

You will find one-off glittering evening gowns, spring racing outfits, bridal gowns, mother-of-the-bride outfits, casual wear, ”tailored weekend separates” and corporate suits.

You might find an opera singer trying on a gown and breaking into song to ensure she can breathe in the figure-hugging bustier. Then there’s three generations of clients who have worn the Australian-made Keon Couture label.

                                    Advertisement: Story continues below

Keon became a designing woman in 1973, opening the Plus 2 Design boutique in Bridge Road, Richmond, later moving to Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn. She moved to the Paris end of Collins Street in 1995 and relocated the showroom to her Flinders Lane workroom in 2009. ”People like finding things off the beaten track,” Keon says.

One VIP client is a former federal politician. The spring racing carnival is Keon’s busiest time and it’s customary for well-heeled ladies from international racing connections to splash up to $15,000 on ensembles. No one wants to be seen in the same outfit traipsing around the members’ enclosure.

This year, the trend is colour, colour, colour. ”We’re a bit over the nude look.” Brace yourself for bright orange, vivid yellow and fuchsia pink.

Keon imports her fabrics from Italy and France from the houses of Valentino, Armani and Givenchy. She still gets a buzz when deliveries arrive. Touching the fabric, she wonders if it’s the same one Valentino, her idol, used.

Keon, a glamorous lady with blonde hair and captivating smile, is married to Philip, a jewellery designer. They’re a chic couple around town. He sells his jewellery in her boutique.

Keon is hosting a ”Timeless Elegance” fashion parade at the Sofitel on September 5 to aid the Hummingbird Ambassadors raise funds for the O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery. Julie Leeming founded the Ambassadors with Janet Spooner and Wendy Cheng, the partner of former lord mayor John So. Keon’s husband is supplying the jewellery and milliner Margaret Jackson the hats.

While most industries have to reinvent themselves and move with the times, nothing much has changed in Keon’s 38 years in the game. She designs the garment, makes the pattern, gives it to her cutter (there’s the first sample), then it goes to the machinist. Her loyal staff have been with her for 30-plus years.

She designs two collections a year and a garment usually takes three to four weeks to make. If you’ve never bought couture, evening gowns range from $1500 to $4000.

Sheltered from the retail malaise and online shopping revolution, Keon says: ”There has been a bit of a downturn. In 38 years, I have found it the most noticeable now. There is still a section of the market place that appreciates beautiful clothes and can pay for them.”

Tradition is a word associated with Keon. She finally succumbed to the internet age and set up a website with an email address two months ago, but still relies on the trusty landline. And she does her correspondence through that quaint practice of letter writing.

On her table is the history of Jews in the Flinders Lane rag trade called Schmattes: Stories of Fabulous Frocks, Funky Fashion and Flinders Lane by Lesley Sharon Rosenthal. ”Schmatte” is Yiddish for rag.

Keon, a machinist during the height of the rag trade, recalls the hustle and bustle. ”People walked with racks and bolts of fabric up and down the lane.”

Keon inherited the sewing skill from her mother, who was a ”beautiful seamstress”. Young Shirley, a Catholic convent-educated girl, was studious at home economics, saying: ”I did everyone’s sewing behind the nuns’ backs.” She did a pattern-making course at Emily McPherson College, which became RMIT, believing the pattern and construction of a garment are signatures of couture.

Pondering the future of Australian-made couture, Keon says the up-and-comers in the fashion world want to be designers. ”If I had to look for staff, I would be in trouble. I would love someone with the ability and desire to train up and take over.”

The beauty about having your own label is never being short of clothes. Keon used to make her own but now the staff make them. ”I have never bought clothes,” she declares.

The Keon Couture ”Timeless Elegance” fashion parade for the Hummingbird Ambassadors is at the Sofitel on September 5 at noon.
